Kausani is a dream destination, the vantage point for a breathtaking view of the Nanda Devi mountain range, amidst dense pine forest. One can feel the proximity of the snowy Himalayan peaks Trishul, Panchchuli, Nanda Ghnti and Chaukhamba from here and immense yourself into the scenic grandeur. Mahatma Gandhi spent some time here, while he was writing the book ‘Anashakti Yoga’ a commentary on Bhagwat Gita. The ‘Anashakti Ashram’ was founded here by his disciple Sarla Ben (Katherine Heilemen). From an impressive height of 1,890mtrs the Himalayas can be seen in their towering glory. Below is the Gomti river rushing into the Katyuni valley. Kausani is also the birthplace of famous Hindi poet Sumitra Nandan Pant.
